Born on November 25, 1965, in the village of Shamraivka, Kyiv region.
The main scientific activity is related to research in the field of deformable solid mechanics, in particular, fracture mechanics, stability theory of deformed bodies, mechanics of composite materials.
He has completed a significant cycle of works on new fracture mechanisms that are not described within classical concepts, in particular, he studied new classes of fracture mechanics problems of materials with initial (residual) stresses acting parallel to crack planes, and fracture of bodies under compression along cracks. Within the framework of linearized elasticity theory, he developed an integrated approach to the problems of fracture of prestressed bodies with cracks and fracture of bodies under compression along parallel cracks. He proposed a new method for determining the critical fracture parameters of bodies with cracks under compression along cracks, where the parameters are calculated during the solution of corresponding inhomogeneous problems of fracture mechanics of materials with initial stresses.
In the linearized formulation, he studied new classes of spatial non-axisymmetric and axisymmetric problems of fracture of physically nonlinear bodies and modern composite materials (laminated, fibrous) containing cracks interacting under the influence of forces directed along the cracks. He revealed new effects related to the influence of initial stresses and the interaction of cracks with each other and with the material surface. He conducted a comprehensive study of the functionality and fracture of composite materials with defects and structures made from them, which are widely used in rocket and aircraft engineering.
He has prepared a number of works on the science of science and the history of science.
He is the author of over 260 printed works, including 22 monographs, textbooks, and reference publications.
