On March 17, 2026, a working visit of the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine to the Center for Information-Analytical and Technical Support of Monitoring of Nuclear Energy Facilities of the NAS of Ukraine took place.
The delegation included the First Vice-President of the NAS of Ukraine, Head of the Section of Physical-Technical and Mathematical Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Vyacheslav Bogdanov, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Igor Garkusha, Scientific Secretary of the Section of Physical-Technical and Mathematical Sciences, Doctor of Technical Sciences Serhiy Bespalov, and Scientific Secretary of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy, Candidate of Chemical Sciences Igor Kocheshev.
The Director of the Center, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Oleksandr Popov, presented the Academy leadership with a comprehensive report on the institution's activities: its organizational structure, personnel potential, financial mechanisms, key achievements in scientific, expert, and publication fields, as well as current challenges and ways to overcome them.
The main scientific directions of the Center are the development of information-analytical and technical support for comprehensive environmental monitoring in areas hosting man-made facilities, the creation of technological solutions to enhance the safety of critical infrastructure facilities, as well as research in the field of modern innovative energy technologies.
Special attention during the visit was given to the Center's applied and international projects: research in the field of hydrogen energy, improvement of monitoring systems at nuclear energy facilities, development of information-analytical solutions to enhance radiation and environmental safety. The Center also actively participates in international initiatives aimed at developing supply chains for nuclear energy and strengthening Ukraine's energy security.
The institution's international cooperation is extensive – the Center implements joint projects with leading universities and scientific organizations of the United Kingdom, Germany, the USA, Poland, Japan, and other countries, particularly within programs supporting energy resilience and post-war recovery of Ukraine.
Following the meeting, the Academy leadership emphasized the importance of further developing research in the field of monitoring nuclear energy facilities and implementing innovative technologies in the energy sector. Problematic issues, prospects for expanding international cooperation, and attracting young scientists to carry out relevant scientific and applied tasks were discussed.
