On July 29, 2026, Vyacheslav Bogdanov, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, First Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Section of Physical, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, and Yuriy Bondarenko, PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Head of the Department of Scientific and Managerial Personnel of the NAS of Ukraine visited the Institute of Electronic Physics of the NAS of Ukraine (Uzhhorod).
Hanna Homonay, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine, Director of the Institute, welcomed the guests and presented the main focus areas of the institution's activities, introduced its personnel and infrastructure potential, results of structural optimization, current tasks, and prospects for further development.
In the course of the presentation, it was noted that the Institute of Electronic Physics of the NAS of Ukraine is one of the leading scientific centers of the Academy, where fundamental and applied research is conducted in the fields of physics of electronic, atomic, and molecular processes, plasma physics, quantum and laser electronics, physics of radiation interaction with matter, materials science, and functional electronics. Significant attention is paid to the development of international scientific cooperation, implementation of state scientific programs, and training of young researchers.
During the visit, representatives of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine got familiar with the work of the Department of Functional Electronics Materials, the Department of Quantum and Plasma Electronics, the Department of Electronic Processes and Elementary Interactions, and the Department of Photonuclear Processes. Staff members of the scientific units presented the modern material and technical base, original experimental facilities and equipment developed at the Institute, spoke about the main focus areas of their research, and demonstrated the results of
scientific developments.
During the discourses, issues of preserving personnel potential, developing the experimental base, conducting fundamental and applied research, expanding international cooperation, and involving young scientists in scientific activities were discussed. It was noted that despite the difficult wartime conditions, the Institute managed to ensure stable work of scientific teams and continue research, including within the framework of the state defense research program.
Special attention was given to creating safe working conditions for the staff under martial law. The Director of the Institute acquainted the guests with the protective facility arranged in the institution with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Summarizing the visit, Vyacheslav Bogdanov, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, First Vice-President of the NAS of Ukraine, emphasized the significant contribution of the Institute of Electronic Physics of the NAS of Ukraine to the development of fundamental physics, modern materials science, laser and quantum electronics. It was stressed that the Institute remains one of the leading scientific centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, successfully combining fundamental research with the development of modern technologies important for the scientific and technological development of the state, strengthening its defense potential, and training a new generation of researchers.
