The public organization Science for Ukraine has resumed the Micro Travel Grant Programme (MTG 2026) (from February 2, 2026) with a focus on supporting young scientists working in Ukraine. The program helps integrate Ukrainian researchers into the international scientific community through in-person participation in conferences, symposiums, and workshops.
The grant provides reimbursement of expenses up to 500 euros.
MTG 2026 reimburses eligible expenses for:
- travel (economy class),
- accommodation,
- conference registration fee.
Applicants can apply if they simultaneously meet the following criteria:
- are graduate/postgraduate students or researchers up to 5 years after obtaining a PhD (or equivalent);
- are actively engaged in scientific work;
- are affiliated (paid or unpaid) with a Ukrainian institution, including a university, NAS of Ukraine institute, scientific archive/museum/library;
- have an accepted oral presentation or poster at an in-person international event and will present in person (authorship order does not matter);
- have an ORCID iD;
- can initially pay expenses themselves and apply for reimbursement after the trip.
Applicants with paid academic positions outside Ukraine cannot apply. One person can receive only one grant within 12 months.
Grants are not provided for:
- research/teaching visits,
- events organized by the applicant’s employer or host institution,
- events within projects/consortia where the applicant works,
- events with already full funding for participation/travel,
- online events.
Applications are submitted via an online form after reviewing the program rules and preparing the document package.
The applicant must provide:
- a short CV (up to 1 page, PDF),
- ORCID iD,
- confirmation of acceptance to the conference,
- a motivation text in English (up to 1000 characters, filled in the form),
- confirmation of affiliation with a Ukrainian institution.
Note: applications are accepted only for events that will take place no earlier than 30 days after the deadline of the respective round.
