According to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated January 26, 2026, No. 81/2026, the National Research Foundation of Ukraine announces the start of the annual competitive selection of projects for conducting scientific research and development to provide grants from the President of Ukraine to young scientists.
Competition Titles
- For young scientists – doctors of sciences (up to 40 years old inclusive).
- For young scientists – doctoral candidates (up to 35 years old inclusive).
- For young scientists – PhD holders / candidates of sciences (up to 35 years old inclusive).
Purpose of the Competitions
Selection of projects for grant support for conducting scientific research and development, stimulation of relevant and socially significant work of young scientists, preservation and development of Ukraine's intellectual potential.
Grants may be provided both for new planned research and for those already underway.
Thematic Directions of the competitions must correspond to one of the directions of science and technology development (according to Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine "On Priority Directions of Science and Technology Development"):
- national security and defense;
- fundamental scientific research on the most important problems of the development of scientific-technical, socio-economic, socio-political, and human potential to ensure Ukraine's competitiveness in the world and sustainable development of society and the state;
- information and communication technologies;
- energy and energy efficiency;
- rational use of natural resources;
- life sciences, new technologies for prevention and treatment of the most common diseases;
- new substances and materials.
Application Submission Deadlines
- Start of submission: 31.01.2026 at 00:01 (Kyiv time)
- End of submission: 01.03.2026 at 23:59 (Kyiv time)
The approximate deadline for expert evaluation and summarizing results is by 15.07.2026.
Grant Support Amounts
- doctors of sciences (up to 40 years old inclusive) – 7 grants of 500,000 UAH each;
- doctoral candidates (up to 35 years old inclusive) – 20 grants of 400,000 UAH each;
- PhD holders / candidates of sciences (up to 35 years old inclusive) – 50 grants of 300,000 UAH each.
