On July 1, 2026, the life of Vadym Stomin, Deputy Chief Engineer of the Research Complex "Accelerator-Nuclear Systems" of the National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology," was cut short. Vadym, along with his comrades, came under fire from an enemy FPV drone while moving in the Sumy region.
Vadym Leonidovych Stomin, known among friends by the call sign "Writer," was born on July 26, 1978. A native of Pyatykhatky in Kharkiv. He grew up, studied, received education, and began his professional path there. He was an integral part of the academic district of Kharkiv and the large family of the National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology."
From the first months of the full-scale war in 2022, Vadym took up the defense of Ukraine. He defended our country so that we could live, work, study, and continue scientific activities. We will remember his openness, kindness, sincere smile, and readiness to always support others. The Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the NAS of Ukraine and the employees of the National Science Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" express their deepest condolences to Vadym's wife Olha, his family, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
