
She was once inspired by the example of her godmother. No, not a fairy, but a math teacher (although this profession is no less magical). So she stepped out of her comfort zone and enrolled in a mathematics PhD program. She does not regret her choice. It was her own determination, the support of loved ones, and a favorable environment that helped her become who she is today.
“Everything happens as it should, and today I can confidently say that I am in my place. <…> Abilities in science have no gender, and persistence, curiosity, and hard work are more important than any stereotypes. <…> A woman is not only a mother or a wife, as was often perceived before, but a full-fledged individual capable of realizing herself in any field. A woman who pursues her beloved work can move mountains,” says Oleksandra Vynnychenko, Doctor of Philosophy in Mathematics, junior research fellow at the Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine, and chair of the Council of Young Scientists of this Institute.
