
She wanted to be well-educated in many areas and read a lot, but mathematics became her main source of satisfaction.
She began her scientific career at a time when women in mathematics were rather an exception.
She is certain that it is worth following your own path despite everything and not being afraid, but simply working.
“Young people should see women in science – not just one or two, but many. One woman somewhere as an example looks like an exception to the rule,” says Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Iryna Yehorchenko, senior research fellow at the Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine. – Visibility in the scientific space is needed not only for women – scientists in Ukraine are generally invisible, but anti-scientific and anti-mathematical propaganda is visible. Society wants innovation, but is hostile to science and scientists.”
