19.01.2026

A new episode of the podcast "Non-scientific Conversations" with the director of the V. I. Vernadsky Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Chemical Sciences Serhiy Solopan, has been released on the information platform "Academ.media".

The conversation covers the century-long history of the Institute, key scientific developments and their practical applications—from energy and defense technologies to medicine, including methods of hyper- and nano-hyperthermia for the treatment of oncological diseases. Special attention is given to the challenges faced by Ukrainian chemical science during the war: staff shortages, critical funding, the role of grants and international cooperation, including with NATO and European scientific programs. The podcast also outlines the vision of the role of science in the post-war recovery of Ukraine and its integration into the EU.
