The authors of the article - the director of the O.V. Palladin Institute of Biochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Serhiy Komisarenko, and a senior researcher of this Institute, candidate of biological sciences Svitlana Romanyuk, analyze the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, which was awarded to American biochemist and computational biologist David Baker for "computer protein design," as well as to representatives of the company Google DeepMind: British artificial intelligence systems expert Demis Hassabis and American chemist and computer scientist John Jumper for "protein structure prediction." The achievements of the Nobel laureates in the field of computational protein design and prediction of their structure have opened a new era of biochemical and biological research, which, combined with the use of artificial intelligence tools, will have far-reaching consequences for humanity.
