In an article on LB.ua, senior researcher at the Mikhail Ptukha Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, candidate of economic sciences Oleksiy Poznyak explains why official data on the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine do not reflect the real situation. According to experts' estimates, the actual number of displaced persons may be at least twice as low as officially reported. The scientist emphasizes the need for selective sociological research to form a well-founded state policy regarding IDPs.
