At the Publishing House "Akademperiodika" of the NAS of Ukraine, under the project "Scientific Book. Young Scientists," a monograph by the scientific secretary of the O. O. Potebnia Institute of Linguistics of the NAS of Ukraine, candidate of philological sciences Alina Honcharenko, titled "Lexicon, Phraseology, and Stable Word Combinations in the Kyiv-Pechersk Patericon," was published.
The work is dedicated to the analysis of the lexical and phraseological levels of the linguistic space of the Kyiv-Pechersk Patericon — the first original monument of the patericon genre, created in the pre-Mongol period on Ukrainian lands and repeatedly copied over the following centuries. The text of the work organically combines elements of bookish and colloquial styles. It is proven that the protograph of the monument and later editions belong to the Old Ukrainian written tradition and reflect the development of the South Russian (Ukrainian) variant (recension) of the Church Slavonic language.
The conducted research has significant theoretical and practical importance, as today studies in historical linguistics and comprehensive study of the language of written sources of Ukraine-Rus are extremely important not only from a purely scientific perspective (for reconstructing the historical dynamics of the Ukrainian language and refining its lexical-phraseological system) but also in a broader social context — such works serve in the defense of our cultural heritage and counter imperial conquest narratives.
The monograph will attract the attention of Slavicists, historians of Slavic languages, lexicologists, etymologists, teachers and students of the humanities, and all those interested in issues of the formation of national culture.
