We invite you to join the organization of events on the occasion of the VIII International Plant Day in Ukraine.

05.01.2026

On May 18, 2026, the VIII International Day of Plants (Fascination of Plants Day – FoPD) will be celebrated, organized and held under the auspices of the European Plant Science Organisation (EPSO) by the combined efforts of more than 64 national coordinators worldwide. Various interactive events dedicated to this day can also be attended on other dates, mainly throughout the entire month of May. We invite people of all ages to join the FoPD celebration and participate in exciting interactive events and activities dedicated to plants, organized by scientific institutions, universities, botanical gardens, museums, schools, farmers, and companies around the world.

The International Day of Plants is celebrated every two years. This event was initiated to popularize and highlight the importance of various fields of plant science in addressing today's global challenges. Since 2012, FoPD has evolved into a global movement that engages communities in different parts of the world in activities that promote awareness of the diverse world of plants and understanding of its exceptional importance.

The target audience of the events ranges from plant science specialists who wish to expand their professional knowledge to students, schoolchildren and their parents, as well as all those who sincerely love plants, nature, the environment, are inspired by its beauty, and wish to protect and preserve it.

The theme of events for the International Day of Plants can cover all areas and fields of plant knowledge – fundamental sciences, agriculture, forestry and horticulture, breeding, plant protection, their role in nutrition, environmental conservation issues and climate change, biodiversity, organic farming, renewable energy sources, the role of plants in education and art.

The format of events is flexible: lectures, microscopy and in vitro plant culture workshops, screenings of popular science films about plants, photo contests, tours of botanical gardens, national and regional parks.
