The presentation of the 2nd edition of the interdisciplinary dictionary "Philosophy of Science and Culture" took place.

20.01.2026

On January 18, 2026, the presentation of the 2nd edition of the interdisciplinary dictionary "Philosophy of Science and Culture," created by an international team of authors under the editorship of the research fellow of the H.S. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Nazip Khamitov, took place.

The presentation was held live at the well-known Kyiv bookstore "Space books" (Holosiivskyi Avenue, 89), but it was also streamed online, allowing participants from all over Ukraine and other countries to join the event.

The authors spoke substantively, presenting their terms. A significant number of them were from the Department of Scientific and Educational Methodologies and Practices of the Center for Humanities Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Interesting questions and reflections came from the audience, which actualize directions for further creativity.

During the informal discussion, the authors and readers agreed that, unlike specialized dictionaries that represent one science, and encyclopedic ones that represent many sciences and fields, interdisciplinary dictionaries combine two or three sciences, which allows the authors to carry out a semantic synthesis in collaboration that promotes discoveries "at the intersections of sciences."

At the same time, the idea was comprehensively discussed that interdisciplinary dictionaries not only enhance heuristic interaction between sciences and scientists and can be used by teachers, students, and graduate students to develop creativity, but they also effectively popularize scientific achievements for a wider circle of readers – they are a special type of popular science literature that actualizes critical and creative thinking.

There were many young scientists at the presentation. Therefore, the words from the Introduction to the dictionary sound especially poignant: "Thanks to dictionaries, different generations understand each other..."
