The President of the NAS of Ukraine met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine

On December 10, 2025, a meeting took place at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine between the President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Anatoliy Zahorodniy, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Mr. Park Ki-chang, who paid a courtesy visit to the Academy. 

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, Head of the Section of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Oleh Rafalskyi, and the Head of the International Relations Department of the NAS of Ukraine, Anatoliy Myronchuk. From the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine, First Secretary Ms. Park Chansil was present.

Opening the meeting, the President of the NAS of Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine highly values the support of the Republic of Korea in resisting the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Academician Anatoliy Zahorodniy also expressed gratitude to leading Korean scientific institutions, institutes, and universities for their solidarity with Ukraine and willingness to contribute to the preservation and restoration of the country's scientific potential.

The head of the Academy informed the distinguished guest about the history of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, its status, structure, and key areas of activity. Special attention was given to issues of international scientific cooperation, particularly the interaction of NAS of Ukraine institutions with scientific organizations and industrial enterprises of the Republic of Korea. The President of the NAS of Ukraine stressed the importance of the Korean experience in post-war reconstruction and highlighted the relevance of developing partnerships in the scientific and technological sphere in the context of Ukraine's recovery.

In his speech, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Mr. Park Ki-chang, noted that it was an honor for him to visit the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and discuss a wide range of issues related to the development of bilateral cooperation. He emphasized that Ukraine's reconstruction should combine the restoration of the destroyed with deep technological transformation and the creation of new modern solutions. According to the Ambassador, the Republic of Korea, possessing strong potential in the semiconductor industry, nuclear energy, and IT sector, is ready to share its own experience. Mr. Park Ki-chang also noted the high level of development of academic science in Ukraine and significant prospects for further scientific cooperation.

The Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Oleh Rafalskyi, drew attention to the importance of the humanitarian dimension of international cooperation, particularly in the fields of literature, culture, and art, which play a key role in bringing peoples closer together. He informed about existing contacts of the institutions of the Section of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine with Korean colleagues and expressed interest in their further development and expansion with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ukraine.

Summarizing the meeting, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea expressed hope for deepening multifaceted Ukrainian-Korean relations in the scientific and technical sphere. The President of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician Anatoliy Zahorodniy, confirmed the Academy's interest in developing cooperation with Korean partners across a wide range of scientific and technological fields.
