The Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics of the NAS of Ukraine is a leading scientific center in Ukraine, where research on fundamental natural phenomena is conducted using methods of theoretical and mathematical physics with modern computational tools and computer simulations.
Founded in 1966, over its 60-year history the Institute has followed a glorious path, demonstrating a high level of scientific research.
Today, the scientists of the Institute rightfully take pride in their achievements in the fields of high-energy physics, astrophysics, quantum field theory, mathematical physics and the theory of integrable systems, condensed matter physics, quantum processes in nanosystems, quantum optics and quantum information, statistical physics of nonequilibrium systems, plasma theory, nuclear physics, biophysics, mathematical modeling, as well as the development of advanced computer technologies and modern computational methods.
While fostering the development of new scientific directions, the Institute’s staff uphold the scientific traditions established by outstanding scientists – Mykola Bogolyubov, Oleksandr Davydov, Oleksiy Sytenko, Ostap Parasyuk, Ihor Yukhnovskyi, Petro Fomin, and others.
For many years, the Institute developed under the leadership of academician Anatoliy Zahorodniy – currently the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 2024, the Institute was headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Serhiy Perepelytsia.
The significant achievements of the Institute’s scientists are confirmed by numerous state, academic, and international awards.
Today, despite the challenges and difficulties of wartime, the scientists of the Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical Physics of the NAS of Ukraine continue to work diligently, contributing to strengthening the state and for the future of Ukraine.
