Preserving Ukraine's Photographic Treasures: Interview with the Head of the Scientific Archive of the Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine, Oleksandra Buzko, by Radio Svoboda

The team scans materials stored in the institute’s archive that have never been digitized before. These include thousands of photographs from the personal archives of Ukrainian archaeologists.

Many photographs depict mysterious details of research excavations, while others are portraits of Ukrainian peasants and street life, taken during expeditions in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

“Digital Memory Repository” began to take shape during the pandemic after Oleksandra Buzko and her colleague Volodymyr Mysak came up with the idea to make the valuable collections of their institute available online.
