Scientists Olena Kompaniiets and Darya Dobrycheva, who work in the department of extragalactic astronomy and astroinformatics at the Main Astronomical Observatory (MAO) of the NAS of Ukraine, in an interview with journalists of the online publication “SPEKA” talked about how they came to science and why they chose astrophysics, what they are currently working on, how astrophysics practically affects our everyday life, the state of science in Ukraine and the situation with its funding, cooperation with business and patronage, work with international research groups, and activities to popularize astronomy and astrophysics among school and university youth.
