Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Seminozhenko, in an interview with Polish television TVP (Ukrainian edition "Slava TV") spoke about Ukrainian science: its challenges, prospects, and role in the country's future.
In particular, in the program "Reconstruction" with Veronika Marchuk, he explained how the war became a catalyst for a technological leap: drones, unmanned systems, electronic warfare, and modern information solutions are already changing military doctrines worldwide. At the same time, Ukrainian science and scientists' inventions directly influence the course of the war. Dozens of Academy institutions are involved in the developments, with the key focus on transforming scientific solutions into real products that can be competitive in the global market.
The conversation also covered:
- what is needed for a "Ukrainian Silicon Valley": interaction between scientific centers and universities with business, venture tools, state scientific and technical programs, and legislative incentives for innovation;
- the 2026 state budget for education and science: what it will be enough for;
- what will encourage young scientists to stay in Ukraine;
- why international sanctions do not prevent Russian science from working for the war machine;
- why science, technology, and innovation are important components of Ukraine's reconstruction.
