About the laureates of the prestigious "Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics"

08.05.2025

This year, one of the most prestigious global scientific awards – the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics – was awarded to four international scientific collaborations working at the Large Hadron Collider (CERN): ATLAS, CMS, LHCb, and ALICE. They were recognized for the experimental confirmation of key predictions of modern quantum physics and the study of the fundamental nature of matter. Among the laureates are scientists from the NAS of Ukraine, who have actively participated in the work of the Large Hadron Collider for many years. The Breakthrough Prize is often called the "scientific Oscar" due to its significance and high international reputation. The international collaborations that received the award include thousands of scientists from around the world, and the contribution of Ukrainian researchers to the joint work is a significant testament to the high level of Ukrainian science.
