For the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, an article titled "What It’s Like to Be Female Scientists and Overcome Gender Stereotypes in Science" was published on the platform of the Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, dedicated to the professional experience of Ukrainian female researchers and their path in scientific careers.
The publication includes interviews with well-known Ukrainian female scientists who shared their personal stories of development, talked about the challenges they faced, and how the role of women in modern science is changing. Special attention is given to overcoming gender stereotypes – established ideas about "typical" professional roles of women and men that can influence career choices and development opportunities in STEM fields.
Among the heroines of the material are representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, whose experience demonstrates a high level of women's involvement in scientific research and their significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian science. According to UNESCO data, women make up a significant part of Ukraine's scientific community, which is one of the highest indicators in Europe.
The material not only highlights the personal stories of researchers but also contains advice for young girls who are just considering a scientific career, emphasizing the importance of support, mentorship, and the openness of the scientific environment to diversity.
