Interview with historian Oleg Bazhan about what the prominent figures of the Sixtiers movement were like

04.03.2024

Who was the "architect of the Sixtiers movement" and the leader of the national liberation movement? Who helped Vasyl Symonenko become an authoritative author? Thanks to whom do we have recordings of how the Sixtiers recited poems? All this and much more was told in the program "Identity Code" on the "Dim" TV channel by senior researcher of the Institute of History of Ukraine PhD in History Oleh Bazhan.

Oleh Bazhan outlined the influence of Ivan Svitlychny, who was called the "architect of the Sixtiers movement" and the leader of the national liberation movement. Ivan Svitlychny organized meetings of the Sixtiers, literary readings, and discussions of opposition strategies in his one-room apartment. It was Ivan Svitlychny who was one of those who initiated samizdat and an uncontrolled channel of information dissemination.
