Grants to research laboratories/groups of young scientists of the NAS of Ukraine for conducting research in priority areas of science and technology development are provided with the aim of encouraging active work in scientific institutions of the NAS of Ukraine by young scientists who have significant scientific results confirmed by publications in leading domestic and foreign specialized journals and experience in participating in international projects or long-term internships at leading scientific centers abroad, as well as preventing the departure of talented youth abroad and creating conditions for the return to Ukraine of young scientists working abroad; identifying promising future scientific leadership personnel; supporting and developing cooperation of young scientists of the NAS of Ukraine with foreign partners by providing opportunities for internships abroad and participation in international conferences; supporting fundamental scientific research, as well as research aimed at creating new technologies, materials, and other high-tech products.
A grant may be awarded to a team of young scientists of the NAS of Ukraine who, at the time of the competition announcement, are defined as "young scientists" in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activities."
The number of young scientist candidates in the team applying for the grant must not exceed five persons.
Grants are awarded on a competitive basis. Annually, the grant amount cannot exceed 1 million UAH. The project leader under the grant must have at least two years of experience participating in international projects and/or a similar period of internship at leading scientific centers abroad and/or significant scientific results confirmed by publications in leading international journals.
The duration of scientific research under the grant is up to two years.
Necessary conditions for participation in the competition include the presence of:
- a project leader with a PhD degree (candidate or doctor of sciences);
- in a team of young scientists consisting of two or three participants, at least one, and in a team of four or five participants, at least two PhDs (candidates or doctors of sciences) in the field of knowledge (science field) corresponding to the project topic;
- scientific achievements of the team members over the last five years (publications in domestic and foreign specialized journals included in scientometric databases);
- experience in international cooperation.
