The modern world situation showed the result of understudying of parasites of wildlife and their possible influence on animals themselves and also on humanity. One of the important group of wildlife is amphibians and reptiles as they playing a role as predator and prey in food chains. As a result, they can be definitive, intermediate and paratenic hosts for the number of parasite species. In the most recent summary on amphibian parasites and diseases, authors (Bower et al., 2018) soundly suggest the presence of numerous unknown pathogens with unpredictable impact. Our small team consists of three researchers specialising on parasites (R. Svitin and I. Dmytrieva) and the life features (O. Marushchak) of terrestrial vertebrates and we would like to introduce the project dedicated to studies of parasites (from protozoans to helminths) of amphibians and reptiles from the territory of Ukraine and their impact on hosts for your consideration. We believe that the project (if supported) will result in the significant outcome and will open the way for further expanding of the study area and hosts range.
