"Lost in Condensation": Kharkiv Chemical Seminar invites all interested parties to a lecture by Prof. Dr. Henning Jessen (ANNOUNCEMENT)

12.06.2026

The Kharkiv Chemical Seminar, initiated by the Institute of Chemistry of Functional Materials at the Research and Development Complex “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine, continues its work and invites all interested parties to join the next online lecture on the Zoom platform on June 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM (Kyiv).

Lecturer: Professor Dr. Henning Jessen (Prof. Dr. Henning Jessen), Head of the Department of Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Freiburg, whose research interests focus on studying the role and relationships of cellular phosphate conjugates through the combination of chemistry and biology methods.

Lecture topic: "Lost in Condensation".

Phosphate conjugates play an extremely important role in biological processes, and their chemical synthesis has remained one of the relevant research directions for over a century. In the lecture, Professor Henning Jessen will present the latest achievements in the synthesis of phosphate conjugates, with a  special focus on inositol phosphates and nucleotides.

Briefly about the event:

In April 2022, despite the full-scale war and difficult working conditions in Kharkiv, scientists from the Institute of Chemistry of Functional Materials at the Research and Development Complex “Institute for Single Crystals” of the NAS of Ukraine launched the Kharkiv Chemical Seminar - an open international scientific platform for lectures, discussions and popularization of science. Since then, over 50 sessions have taken place, gathering more than 45 thousand visits and views. Among the seminar speakers were eight Nobel laureates and leading scientists from various countries, making the Kharkiv Chemical Seminar a notable event in the international scientific community.
