On July 6, 2026, an international scientific and practical forum “Forensic Science Future 2026” was held in Kharkiv. It was dedicated to current issues of the development of forensic expert activities and the implementation of modern scientific approaches in the field of justice. The event was organized by the National Scientific Center "Honored Prof. M. S. Bokarius Institute of Forensic Examinations" of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine. The forum coincided in time with the Forensic Expert Day.
Volodymyr Semynozhenko, academician of the NAS of Ukraine, Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, Head of the North-Eastern Scientific Center of the NAS of Ukraine and the MES of Ukraine, representatives of Ukrainian scientific institutions, higher education institutions, government bodies and local self-government, law enforcement agencies, forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, enterprises and organizations of Ukraine, joined the meeting.
While opening of the forum, academician Volodymyr Semynozhenko congratulated the participants on their professional day on behalf of the NAS of Ukraine, and presented the Honorary Award of the NAS of Ukraine "For the promotion of scientific development" to Anastasiia Kupriyanova , PhD in Jurisprudence, Director of the National Scientific Center "Honored Prof. M. S. Bokarius Institute of Forensic Examinations" of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The participants discussed modern trends in the development of forensic enquiry, the advanced methods of expert research, as well as the importance of cooperation between academic science and forensic institutions in order to improve the effectiveness and reliability of expert support for justice.
Modern forensic enquiry actively uses achievements in chemistry, physics, materials science, digital technologies, and analytical research methods. In this context, deepening interaction between academic science and forensic institutions is an important prerequisite for the further development of this sphere.
"Modern forensic enquiry is impossible without science. Every new methodology, every objective expert study, every step forward in this field begins with scientific inquiry. Today, the interaction of science and practice yields real results and opens new opportunities for the development of forensic enquiry”, emphasized academician Volodymyr Semynozhenko in his speech.
