With deep sorrow, we announce that on March 1, 2026, at the age of 77, the heart of the outstanding Ukrainian theoretical physicist, science organizer, and corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine Vyacheslav Fedorovych Klepikov stopped beating.

On March 1, 2026, at the age of 77, the heart of the outstanding Ukrainian theoretical physicist, science organizer, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, professor, doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, honored figure of science and technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, advisor to the director of the Institute of Electrophysics and Radiation Technologies of the NAS of Ukraine, Vyacheslav Fedorovich KLEPIKOV, stopped.

Vyacheslav Fedorovich Klepikov was born on July 13, 1949, in Kharkiv. In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Kharkiv State University and began working at the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology (now the National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology"). In 1990–1992, he initiated the creation of a new institution in the NAS of Ukraine – the Scientific and Technical Center for Electrophysical Processing – later the Institute of Electrophysics and Radiation Technologies of the NAS of Ukraine, of which he was the director from the very beginning until 2021. Recently, he worked as an advisor to the director and was the Honorary Director of the Institute.

The scientific results of V.F. Klepikov cover a wide range of research in theoretical physics, electrophysics, radiation physics of solids, radiation and nuclear technologies. The conditions for the giant enhancement of nuclear magnetic resonance in thin magnetic films predicted by him made it possible to create detectors of nuclear spin waves based on such films, magnetic analogs of the Wilson chamber (detectors of electrically neutral particles), as well as nuclear tomographs with very high resolution.

Vyacheslav Fedorovich established cases of exact solvability of wave equations in conformal quantum field theory with arbitrary (including non-integer) gradients, describing non-trivial objects (topological solitons, magnetic monopoles, etc.), developed methods of radiation and electrophysical modification of the strength and plasticity of solids, as well as stimulation of their superplasticity, which is of great importance for the creation of new materials for nuclear energy, proposed new methods and a new installation for low-temperature ion-plasma deposition and application of surface strengthening coatings, which ensure a significant improvement in wear resistance, density, uniformity, and adhesion of the deposited layer.

The results of V.F. Klepikov's research have been published in over 400 scientific works, including 5 monographs. Among his students are 4 doctors and 8 candidates of sciences.

V.F. Klepikov carried out significant scientific and organizational work as a member of the National Commission on Radiation Protection of the Population of Ukraine under the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), several specialized dissertation defense councils, editorial boards of international and Ukrainian scientific journals. From the very first days of the creation of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the NAS of Ukraine, working as deputy academic secretary and member of the Bureau of the Department, Vyacheslav Fedorovich made a substantial contribution to its establishment and development.

V.F. Klepikov was a laureate of the S.I. Pekar and K.D. Sinelnikov prizes of the NAS of Ukraine, awarded the NAS of Ukraine distinction "For Scientific Achievements" and the honorary badge of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine "Excellence in Education of Ukraine."

Thanks to his outstanding human qualities, exceptional diligence, and amazing work capacity, as well as his scientific and organizational talent, Vyacheslav Fedorovich earned great authority and respect in the scientific community.

The bright memory of Vyacheslav Fedorovich will forever remain in the hearts of his students, colleagues, and friends.
