
On May 26–28, 2026, the 22nd International Scientific and Practical Conference "Foundry. Metallurgy - 2026", important for scholars, educators and industrialists, took place at the Physical and Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the NAS of Ukraine in a mixed (online and offline) format.
The event was also co-organized by the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology (Dnipro), the All-Ukrainian Association of Foundries of Ukraine (Kyiv), Odesa National Polytechnic University, the National University "Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic", the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the AGH Krakow University of Science and Technology (Poland), and the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (Germany).

In total, 20 reports were heard, which sparked lively discussions on a broad range of topics:
• strategy for the restoration and development of Ukrainian foundry production based on national scientific, technical and human resources potential;
• educational and scientific activities of universities in strategically important areas of metallurgy and foundry production;
• development of new iron-carbon and non-ferrous alloys, high-entropy alloys and nanomaterials, methods for producing metal products for various purposes, promising developments in the metallurgy of cast iron and steel.

Online discussion at the plenary session of the conference
On May 27, 2026, the Physical and Technological Institute of Metals and Alloys of the NAS of Ukraine, together with the State Department – Center for Foundry Production and the Association of Foundries of Ukraine, organized a meeting-conference of representatives of government authorities, industrial associations, and enterprises "Industry of Ukraine. Paths of Revival. Foundry Production as the Basis of the Procurement Base of Mechanical Engineering" within the framework of the 24th International Industrial Forum in Kyiv.
The meeting brought together representatives of executive authorities, industrialists and entrepreneurs, heads of industry associations, specialized foundry departments of universities of Ukraine. The participants discussed the problems of the functioning of enterprises and ways to solve them, systemic challenges and priority areas of the industry development.

During the discussion at the meeting-conference
On May 28, 2026, the scientific and practical conference continued its work at university departments in the format of sectional meetings.
Following the results of the scientific and practical conference and meeting, scientists, representatives of universities, production associations and enterprises will formulate proposals for authorities to support the metallurgy and foundry industries, their systematic and effective involvement in solving urgent problems of the national economy, in particular industry, as well as in training qualified personnel for these strategically important areas.
