May 13, 2026 a meeting was held between the scientific team of the STC "Institute of Monocrystals" of the NAS of Ukraine and the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Denys Kurbatov.
The meeting was also attended by the General Director of the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Hryhoriy Mazolevych, a specialist in development and management of scientific infrastructure at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Heorhiy Vasyliev, and the Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Olha Bezpalova.
The General Director of the STC "Institute of Monocrystals" of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Seminozhenko, told the guests about the activities of the Complex as one of the leading scientific centers of the country, key scientific results, international projects, and strategic directions of development. The discussion covered not only fundamental research but also applied developments important for medicine, industry, and the defense sector.
Denys Kurbatov presented the Ministry's vision regarding the transformation of the scientific field and outlined the steps already implemented. At the same time, the conversation went far beyond formal presentations. Kharkiv scientists spoke about the reality in which Ukrainian research centers operate today, especially those remaining in frontline regions.
The discussion focused on issues that today determine the future of Ukrainian science: new principles for financing scientific institutions and universities, resource allocation mechanisms, support for young scientists, problems of postgraduate studies, and personnel renewal in the scientific sphere. The role of science in the post-war recovery of the country was discussed separately. After all, scientific developments and technological solutions are to become one of the foundations of Ukraine's future economy. Despite the war, Ukrainian scientists continue to publish in leading international journals, participate in international projects, and create developments important for the country's defense capability.
At the end of the meeting, Denys Kurbatov thanked the Complex staff for their conscientious work, high professionalism, and significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian science, and also congratulated the team on their professional holiday – the Day of Science of Ukraine.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister also familiarized himself with the exhibition of scientific achievements of the STC "Institute of Monocrystals" of the NAS of Ukraine. Among the presented developments were materials and technologies, some of which have no analogues in the world.
