At the National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" (NSC KIPT) of the NAS of Ukraine, a scientific seminar "Statistical Physics and Quantum Field Theory" was held, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian theoretical physicist, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Serhiy Peletminskyi.
The event took place on February 17, 2026, in an online format. The seminar was dedicated to the scientific heritage of the scientist – the founder of the world-famous Kharkiv school of statistical physics, honored figure of science and technology of Ukraine, twice laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in science and technology.
More than 60 scientists – representatives of leading scientific institutions and universities of Ukraine – participated in the seminar.
Greeting the participants were the President of the NAS of Ukraine, academician Anatoliy Zahorodniy, acting General Director of NSC KIPT, academician Mykola Azarenkov, academician-secretary of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the NAS of Ukraine, academician Ihor Harkusha, and the director of the Educational and Scientific Center "Faculty of Physics and Technology" of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Petro Kuznetsov.
Academician Yuriy Slyusarenko gave a report on the life path and scientific activity of Serhiy Peletminskyi.
During the seminar, a number of scientific reports were also presented, dedicated to current problems in various fields of physics related to the research directions initiated by Serhiy Peletminskyi.
After the event, the organizers received numerous positive feedback from participants regarding the high scientific level of the reports and the relevance of the discussed topics.
