In the Kyiv Academic Botanical Garden, trees were planted in honor of the fallen defenders of Ukraine.

On May 2, 2026, trees were planted in the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine in Kyiv to restore the environment and honor the memory of those who died for Ukraine. This event, which was part of the large-scale international environmental campaign "1 Million Trees of Memory and Life," involved participants and mentors of the "Business Woman Club" community and took place during a telemarathon with live broadcasts from various parts of Ukraine and the world. The initiative united over 30 countries and hundreds of locations worldwide. One of the planted trees was dedicated by the participants to the memory of the scientist and Hero of Ukraine Bizhan Sharopov, who died in battles for the liberation of Kharkiv region in spring 2022.

Representatives of state authorities, the diplomatic corps, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, business, and the public sector, who are also mentors and members of the "Business Woman Club" community, took part in the event and delivered welcoming speeches, including:

  • Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Iryna Mudra;
  • Ombudsman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Lubinets;
  • Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Ukraine Ms. Elena Leticia Mikusinski;
  • Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Ukraine Mr. Andon Sapundzhi;
  • Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Ms. Natalka Tsmots;
  • First Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Yemelyanov;
  • Director of the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Nataliya Zaimenko;
  • People’s Deputy of Ukraine Serhiy Kozyr;
  • President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine Henadiy Chyzhykov;
  • People’s Artist of Ukraine Oksana Bilozir;
  • Vice President of the Association of Ukrainian Banks Vitaliy Romanchukevych;
  • Researcher at the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, curator of the "Indonesian Traditional Garden" section, Candidate of Biological Sciences Nadiya Popil, and other Garden staff.

Participants of the "Business Woman Club" also joined the central event: Mariya Chorna, Yuliya Slaiman, Lyudmyla Bohdan, Liliana Dmytriieva, and Anastasiya Zabolotna.

The initiative became part of the global environmental project "Greening of the Planet," which unites the world around the idea of nature restoration and forming a responsible future under the motto: "Planting trees — forming living memory."
