The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity" and its Charter, announces a competition for the positions of directors of scientific institutions of the NAS of Ukraine:
Department of History, Philosophy, and Law of the NAS of Ukraine
– Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
Department of Literature, Language, and Art Studies of the NAS of Ukraine
– Institute of Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
scientific institutions directly subordinate to
the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine
– Western Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
– Donetsk Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine;
– Center for Research on Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
– State Organization "Department of Targeted Training of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine."
According to the Charter of the NAS of Ukraine, the right to nominate candidates for the position of director of a scientific institution is vested to: the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine, the relevant department of the NAS of Ukraine, members of the NAS of Ukraine, the academic council of the scientific institution, and the staff of scientific departments of the scientific institution. A person cannot be nominated as a candidate for the position of director of a scientific institution in cases provided for in part three of article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity" and the Basic Principles of Organization and Activity of a Scientific Institution of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, approved by the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine on 29.09.2021 No. 291 (clause 4.4., section IV).
A candidate for the position of director of a state scientific institution must be fluent in the state language, hold a scientific degree of Doctor of Sciences or Doctor of Philosophy (Candidate of Sciences), and have at least 10 years of experience in scientific and/or scientific-pedagogical positions. The same person cannot serve as the head of the relevant state scientific institution for more than two terms.
When submitting proposals regarding candidates for the position of director of scientific institution of the NAS of Ukraine by the respective department of the NAS of Ukraine and the Commission of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine on the activities of scientific institutions directly subordinate to the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine, the following documents of the candidates must be attached:
1. Written consent to run for office, indicating information about the application or non-application of restrictions established by part three of article 9 of the Law of Ukraine "On Scientific and Scientific-Technical Activity";
2. Scientific employee questionnaire (personal record sheet) with a photograph;
3. CV (must contain a comprehensive and at the same time concise description of life, education, and activities in chronological order, as well as information about marital status and family composition);
4. Copies of taxpayer registration number, passport of a citizen of Ukraine (certified by the candidate), employment record book (if available) or information about employment from the register of insured persons of the State Register of Compulsory State Social Insurance, copies of documents on higher education, scientific degree, and academic title;
5. List of scientific works;
6. Document certifying the level of proficiency in the state language in accordance with part 3 of article 10 of the Law of Ukraine "On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language";
7. Certificate of passing preliminary, periodic, and unscheduled psychiatric examinations of the established form;
8. Certificate of no criminal record;
9. Information certificate from the Unified State Register of Persons Who Committed Corruption or Corruption-Related Offenses, confirming the absence of such offenses by the candidate;
10. Candidate's declaration for the position, submitted in accordance with part three of article 45 of the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention of Corruption," provided that the person has not submitted an annual declaration for the previous year;
11. Written consent to the collection and processing of personal data.
Copies of documents submitted by the candidate (except for the copy of the passport certified by the candidate) must be certified in the prescribed manner.
Submission of candidates' documents is carried out by the respective departments of the NAS of Ukraine and the Commission of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine on the activities of scientific institutions directly subordinate to the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine within two months from the date of publication of the announcement – until 6:00 PM on August 25, 2026, at the address: 54 Volodymyrska St., Kyiv..

The preparation and conduct of elections for directors of scientific institutions of the NAS of Ukraine are organized by these institutions in accordance with the Methodological Recommendations on the Features of Electing the Head of a State Scientific Institution, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated December 14, 2016 No. 998 "Some Issues of Election and Appointment of the Head of a State Scientific Institution".
