Scientists of the institutions of the NAS of Ukraine will join new international research projects within the framework of the partnership initiative of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU). Six projects with their participation became winners of the second round of competitive selection for additional grant opportunities for Ukrainian scientists.
Scientists of the institutions of the NAS of Ukraine will join new international research projects within the framework of the partnership initiative of the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU). Six projects with their participation became winners of the second round of competitive selection for additional grant opportunities for Ukrainian scientists.
This is the second competition within the NWO-NRFU partnership initiative. According to the results of the first selection held in 2023, 13 projects were supported for a total amount of 250,000 euros. This year, the budget of the program was increased to 480,000 euros, which allows to expand the pool of participants and support a larger number of joint research initiatives.
According to the results of the competitive selection in 2025, the winners were 20 Ukrainian scientists who will work in partnership with leading scientific institutions in the Netherlands. Supported projects cover a wide range of focus areas - from the advanced materials, nanoelectrochemistry and mathematical research to artificial intelligence, cyber security, climate change, medicine, archeology and social sciences.
The following projects with the participation of scientists of the NAS of Ukraine:
- "Unification of molecules: photochemistry of photocatalysis in the tight space of small pores"
Principal researchers: Dr. B. Baumgartner (University of Amsterdam) and Dr. O. Kulyk (State Scientific Institution "Institute for Single Crystals" of the NAS of Ukraine).
- ANION: Advanced Netherlands Institute of Nanoelectrochemistry
Principal researchers: Prof. M. Koper (Leiden University) and Prof. Yu. Kalyuzhny (I. R. Yukhnovsky Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the NAS of Ukraine).
- MetaFlow: Phonon Metasurfaces for Flow Control and Vibration Reduction Induced by Flow
Principal researchers: Dr. A. Krushynska (University of Groningen) and Dr. Ya. Zahumenny (Institute of Hydromechanics of the NAS of Ukraine).
- "Fundamentals of Stochastic Partial Differential Equations"
Principal researchers: Prof. M. Veraar (Delft University of Technology) and Prof. O. Murach (Institute of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine).
- "Language and Argumentation of Russian Propaganda"
Principal researchers: Prof. E. Fortuin (Leiden University) and Dr. V. Hrekov (National Science Center “Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology”).
- "Neanderthal Heritage. Contacts and Interaction in Europe 40,000 Years Ago"
Principal researchers: Prof. M. Soressi (Leiden University) and Dr. V. Stepanchuk (Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine),
are among the winners.
