The National Research Foundation of Ukraine announces a project competition for conducting scientific research "Advanced Fundamental Science in Ukraine 2027-2029".
The competition aims to support advanced fundamental research that involves setting and solving current scientific problems by teams of leading and young scientists in response to modern challenges and demands of Ukrainian society, to ensure Ukraine's competitiveness in the world, promote the development of national research potential, and integrate into the global research space.
The thematic directions of the Competition: fundamental scientific research on the most important problems of the development of scientific-technical, socio-economic, socio-political, and human potential to ensure Ukraine's competitiveness in the world and sustainable development of society and the state (a priority direction defined by paragraph 2 of Article 3 of the Law of Ukraine "On Priority Directions of Science and Technology Development").
The duration of the projects selected as a result of the Competition: up to 3 years.
The total funding volume for projects selected as a result of the Competition: up to UAH 800 million (in 2027 up to UAH 300 million, in 2028 – up to UAH 250 million, in 2029 – up to UAH 250 million).
Applications for the competition are accepted from March 25 to April 24, 2026.
Terms for conducting scientific and scientific-technical expertise and summarizing the results of the Competition: by December 15, 2026 (approximately).
