Every year, the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine awards fourteen prizes for young scientists and fourteen prizes for students of higher educational institutions for works in the field of natural, engineering, social and humanitarian sciences. Prizes are awarded to individual authors or a group of authors for the best scientific works, as well as for a series of scientific works on a unified topic, for discoveries and inventions. The team nominated for the award should include only the main authors whose contribution was the most significant, and should consist of no more than three people. Prize-winners are awarded diplomas of the approved format at the General Meeting of the relevant department of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
Works that have previously been awarded prizes of the NAS of Ukraine, branch academies or special prizes of other departments on a competitive basis, will not be accepted for the competition.
Collections of research papers by different authors are not acceptable for the competition.
1. The competition is open to researchers, teachers, research interns, postgraduate students of research institutions up to the age of 35, students of higher education institutions, as well as students and postgraduate students from foreign countries studying at scientific institutions and higher education institutions of Ukraine.
2. The right to nominate candidates for awards is granted to full members and corresponding members of the NAS of Ukraine; academic councils of scientific institutions and higher education institutions, collegiums (presidia) of ministries and departments of Ukraine, technical councils of industrial enterprises, design bureaus, as well as councils of scientific and scientific-technical societies, which is confirmed by an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the academic council of the institution or the relevant body of the enterprise, organization or department.
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine accepts works completed by young scientists for competition upon applications submitted by relevant ministries, departments, organizations, and councils.
3. The deadline for submitting work for the competition is December 15, 2026.
4. The organization that nominates the research for awarding the prize to young scientists and students submits to the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine (54 Volodymyrska St., 01601, Kyiv, for inquiries: + 380 44 239-64-24; +380 44 239-64-63) a properly executed work with the inscription on the title page: “For the award of NAS of Ukraine prizes to young scientists (students)” indicating the relevant department of the NAS of Ukraine:
а) an official letter from the institution regarding the submission of a particular work for the competition (on letterhead) in 2 copies, affixed by the institution's official seal;
b) a well-founded application, including the title, scientific description of the work, and a brief abstract;
c) published scientific work (series of works), materials of scientific research or invention in 2 identically executed copies - for the competition of young scientists;
d) scientific work, materials of scientific research or invention in 1 copy – for the student competition;
e) a specific certificate in percentage-numerical form about the creative contribution of each member of the author's team, consisting of two or three people, to the work or series of works submitted for the competition;
f) a certificate stating that the works submitted for the competition have not previously been awarded prizes by the NAS of Ukraine, etc.;
g) at least two peer reviews from third-party organizations (with their addresses);
h) information about the author: surname, first name, patronymic, date of birth, place of work, academic degree and position (for students - higher education institution, faculty, course in detail), home and email addresses, telephone number (work, home and mobile), photocopy of the certificate of the identification code;
i) consent to the personal data collection and processing (on the appropriate form).
All materials submitted for the competition must be properly formatted: works (unpublished) must be signed by the authors, certificates and recommendations must be signed by the heads of institutions (higher education institutions) and bear the seal of the institution. The page size of each accompanying document is not regulated.
5. Works that do not receive prize are not stored at the NAS of Ukraine and, upon request, may be returned to the authors by the respective departments.
6. Improperly formatted works will not be accepted for participation in the competition.
