In order to honor scientists who have carried out significant fundamental and applied scientific research and scientific and technical developments that are of great importance for the economy, the science, increasing the defense capability of the state, and the post-war development of Ukraine, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine awards prizes named after prominent scholars of Ukraine.
1. The following persons:
а) full members and corresponding members of the NAS of Ukraine;
b) individuals working in scientific institutions, higher education institutions, enterprises and organizations located in Ukraine;
c) teams of authors – performers of the work proposed for the award, if the majority of authors work in the institutions listed in subparagraph “b”,
can participate in the competition for the prizes named after prominent scholars.
2. The right to nominate works for prizes named after prominent scholars is granted to:
а) full members and corresponding members of the NAS of Ukraine;
b) scientific institutions, higher education institutions, research laboratories and stations, design bureaus;
c) scientific and technical councils of ministries and departments of Ukraine;
d) scientific councils on scientific issues;
e) technical councils of industrial enterprises;
f) scientific and engineering associations and societies.
3. The team nominated for the prize named after prominent scholar should include only the main authors whose contribution is the most significant. The number of authors should not exceed three people. The team of authors shall not include people who have previously been awarded this prize named after prominent scholar.
4. The following works:
scientific works after at least 6 months, but no more than 5 years have passed since their publication;
inventions and discoveries - after their implementation,
may be nominated for prizes named after prominent scholars.
5. The deadline for submitting works for the competition is November 1, 2026.
Organizations and individuals who have nominated a scientific work for a prize named after a prominent scholar shall submit the following documents:
а) published work (series of works) or materials about a scientific discovery (invention);
b) an abstract with the scientific description of the work and conclusions about its significance for the development of the most important areas of state activity;
c) copies of author’s certificates and discovery certificates;
d) documents on the implementation of the work (copies of resolutions, orders, acts and certificates on technical and economic indicators of implementation), in appropriate cases;
e) test reports (for new machine designs, technological processes, etc.);
f) reviews of the scientific community and the press about the work;
g) a detailed certificate in percentage and numerical form about the creative contribution of each member of the author's team to the work submitted for the competition. The certificate shall be drawn up separately for each author and signed by the head of the institution at the author's place of work and affixed with an official seal;
h) personal information about the author(s) (surname, first name, patronymic), year and month of birth, specialty, honorary title, academic degree, academic title, position, work, home and email addresses, work, home and mobile phones; a photocopy of the certificate of the identification code, signed by him/her (them); these data shall be certified by the top management and the official seal of the institution at the author’s place of work, and the author’s current 9 x 12 cm color photo in both paper and electronic form as well,
to the relevant department of the NAS of Ukraine on the organization's letterhead with the inscription "For the prize named after ...".
All materials shall be submitted in duplicate to the address of the relevant department of the NAS of Ukraine (54 Volodymyrska St., Kyiv, 01601, Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; for inquiries: + 380 44 239-64-24; +380 44 239-64-63).
Works that have been awarded the State Prize of Ukraine, prizes named after prominent scholars of the NAS of Ukraine and specialized academies, or special prizes of other departments awarded through competitions shall not be accepted for the competition.
Collections of scientific works with more than three authors are not accepted for the competition.

2. O.S. Davydov Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of theoretical and biological physics (Department of Physics and Astronomy of the NAS of Ukraine).
3. D.V. Volkov Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in nuclear theory and high energy physics (Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the NAS of Ukraine).
4. S.M. Gershenzon Prize - for outstanding achievements in the field of molecular biology, molecular genetics and molecular biophysics (Department of Biochemistry, Physiology and Molecular Biology of the NAS of Ukraine).
5. M.S. Hrushevsky Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of historical Ukrainian studies and sociology (Department of History, Philosophy and Law of the NAS of Ukraine).
6. R.Ye. Kavetsky Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of experimental oncology (Department of Biochemistry, Physiology and Molecular Biology of the NAS of Ukraine ).
7. F.M. Kolessa Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of Ukrainian folkloristics, ethnology, ethnography and musicology (Department of Literature, Language and Art Studies of the NAS of Ukraine).
8. M.G. Krein Prize – for outstanding scientific papers in functional analytics and theory of functions (Department of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine).
9. I.I. Mechnikov Prize – for outstanding academic papers in the field of microbiology, immunology and gerontology (Department of Biochemistry, Physiology, and Molecular Biology of the NAS of Ukraine).
10. V.S. Mykhalevych Prize – for outstanding achievements in the field of computer science, theory of optimization and system analysis (Department of Computer Science of the NAS of Ukraine).
11. Z.I. Nekrasov Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of metallurgy (Department of Physical and Technological Problems of Materials Science of the NAS of Ukraine).
12. I.P. Puluj Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of applied physics (Department of Physics and Astronomy of the NAS of Ukraine).
13. L.V. Pysarzhevsky Prize – for outstanding academic publications in the field of chemistry and chemical technology (Department of Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine).
14. O.V. Pogorielov Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of differential equations, geometry and topology (Department of Mathematics of the NAS of Ukraine).
15. I.K. Pokhodnia Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of applied materials science (Department of Physical and Technological Problems of Materials Science of the NAS of Ukraine).
16. M.V. Ptukha Prize – for outstanding scientific publications in the field of economics and demography, demographic statistics (Department of Economics of the NAS of Ukraine).
17. L.P. Symyrenko Prize – for outstanding scientific achievements in the field of horticulture, dendrobiology and floriculture (Department of General Biology of the NAS of Ukraine).
18. M.D. Strazhesko Prize – for outstanding academic publications in the field of treatment of internal diseases, cardiology (Department of Biochemistry, Physiology and Molecular Biology of the NAS of Ukraine).
19. S.I. Subbotin Prize – for outstanding academic publications in the field of geophysics, hydrophysics, scientific instrumentation, meteorology and atmospheric physics (Department of Earth Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine).
20. S.P. Tymoshenko Prize – for outstanding achievements in the field of theoretical and applied mechanics (Department of Mechanics and Engineering Science of the NAS of Ukraine).
