On May 19, 2026, at 15:00, an online event "Science, Heritage, Museum: New Practices for Modern Institutions" will take place, dedicated to contemporary approaches in museology, working with scientific heritage, and the development of museum practices in Ukraine.
The event is organized by the Museum Sector of the National Scientific Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" of the NAS of Ukraine in cooperation with the Department of Ukrainian Studies of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philosophy, Cultural Studies, and Political Science of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
The event is timed to coincide with International Museum Day and aims to unite scientists, museum workers, teachers, students, heritage researchers, and cultural managers around current practices of working with historical, scientific, and cultural memory.
The focus of the discussion is on modern directions in the development of museum science: revitalization of historical spaces, management of scientific heritage, use of digital technologies and blockchain in museum work, science art, documentary theater, immersive formats, and international heritage research as a resource for sustainable development.
Using the example of the Museum and Cultural Complex "UFTI. Kharkiv," participants will demonstrate how modern museology operates at the intersection of science, culture, education, digital technologies, and international cooperation.
The program includes:
• an online meeting with a presentation of practical cases;
• a professional discussion on modern museum practices;
• discussion of approaches to revitalizing complex heritage;
• an opportunity to ask questions to the project team.
