28.05.2026

In May 2026, more than 100 ornamental trees and shrubs were planted at various locations of the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. The event took place as part of an innovative charitable initiative dedicated to Science Day in Ukraine, aimed at restoring and enriching the Garden's exhibition areas with the support of Vodafone Ukraine and became another step in the development of the corporate initiative "Vodafone GreenUp," focused on supporting environmental and socially important projects.

With welcoming words to the participants, the company's personnel development expert and curator of the "Vodafone GreenUp" initiative, Olena Chernetska, and the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine Djamal Rakhmetov addressed the event. They called the collaboration between science and business an important component of the development of the botanical institution's infrastructure in the context of conservation, enrichment, and reproduction of biodiversity and raising ecological awareness. In their opinion, such initiatives contribute to the restoration of natural heritage and the creation of a comfortable green environment for future generations.

During the event, the "Peony Garden" exhibition was supplemented with 40 tree peonies of various varieties. The cherry blossom alley was significantly extended with the planting of 20 large-sized trees. New accents in the exhibition areas also included Canadian redbud, wisteria, and Persian parrotia. The "Garden of Aromas" area received 30 seedlings of perennial aromatic plants.

The event participants – employees of Vodafone Ukraine and the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine, as well as their relatives and friends – joined the greening of the Garden with great enthusiasm and dedication. The atmosphere of joint work, unity, and responsibility for the environment gave the attendees many positive emotions and once again confirmed the importance of consolidating efforts to preserve nature.

The M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine sincerely thanks the management and staff of Vodafone Ukraine for supporting environmental initiatives and their significant contribution to enriching and restoring the Garden's phytodiversity and invites all concerned to join environmental projects to preserve Ukraine's green treasury – the academic botanical garden.
