The Academy's leadership met with the delegation of the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

On March 6, 2026, a meeting was held at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine between the Academy’s leadership and a delegation from the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea: Permanent Representative Olga Kuryshko and Deputy Head of the Department for De-occupation and Reintegration of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Lyudmyla Shevchuk.

The meeting was attended by the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Zahorodniy, Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, Chair of the Section of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Oleh Rafalskyi, Acting Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Oleh Kubalskyi, and academician-secretary of the Department of Literature, Language, and Art Studies of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Bohdan Azhniuk.

They discussed cooperation between the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the scientists of the NAS of Ukraine, educational institutions, civil society institutes, and interested public organizations in ensuring the ethnocultural needs of the Crimean Tatar and other indigenous peoples of Ukraine, as well as expanding their access to informational and educational resources.

Representatives of the NAS of Ukraine informed the honored guests that the Academy’s social and humanitarian profile institutions study specific aspects of the history, language, and culture of Ukraine’s indigenous peoples.

The Academy’s institutions participate in the implementation of the Action Plan for the protection of the rights of persons belonging to national minorities (communities) of Ukraine, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine’s order dated 14.05.2025 No. 475-r, “Some issues of ensuring the negotiation process for Ukraine’s accession to the European Union under Cluster 1 ‘Foundations of the EU Accession Process’.”

In particular, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Bohdan Azhniuk informed the meeting participants about the planned work on creating an academic Ukrainian-Crimean Tatar dictionary with an approximate volume of 50,000 lexical units.

The meeting participants supported the proposal of Olga Kuryshko and academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Zahorodniy to hold a roundtable dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the ethnocultural heritage of Ukraine’s indigenous peoples.
