The Academy's leadership visited the V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine.

19.03.2026

On March 13, 2026, the Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, Head of the Section of Chemical and Biological Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Volodymyr Radchenko, together with the academic secretary of the Department of Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Petro Stryzhak, the scientific secretary of the Section of Chemical and Biological Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, Candidate of Biological Sciences Yevheniy Rutyan, and the scientific secretary of the Department of Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine, Candidate of Biological Sciences Oksana Dziuba, paid a working visit to the V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine.

The V.P. Kukhar Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and Petrochemistry of the NAS of Ukraine is a leading Ukrainian scientific institution conducting fundamental and applied research in the field of bioorganic chemistry and petrochemistry. The Institute carries out systematic comprehensive studies related to methods for synthesizing new functionally substituted heterocyclic compounds, asymmetric synthesis of organoelement analogs of natural compounds, investigation of mechanisms of bioorganic reactions, research on biological activity and study of the "structure–activity" relationship, search and creation of new inhibitors of therapeutically significant enzymes, and more. An important place in the Institute's work is occupied by research on zeolite and metal-complex catalysis, obtaining new functional materials, alternative fuels and lubricants, and other practically important products from hydrocarbon raw materials, as well as the search for effective ways to solve environmental problems.

During the visit, the Academy's leadership familiarized themselves with the scientific infrastructure of the institution, the Institute's modern developments, and innovative projects. Special attention was paid to issues of developing international cooperation, expanding the material and technical base, supporting scientific teams, and involving young scientists in the implementation of the Institute's research projects.

The Institute's leadership presented to the delegation the structure of the institution, its personnel potential, and current research directions.
