The L.M. Lytvynenko Institute of Physical-Organic Chemistry and Coal Chemistry of the NAS of Ukraine has introduced a named scholarship of Academician Leonid Mykhailovych Lytvynenko to support talented youth. The decision was made to commemorate the memory of the outstanding scientist, the founder of the Institute, as well as to provide financial incentives for young researchers and strengthen cooperation between academic science and higher education institutions.
The scholarship regulations were approved in April 2026 at the meeting of the Institute's Academic Council.
The scholarship will be awarded on a competitive basis to higher education applicants (bachelors and masters), as well as postgraduate students of Ukrainian higher education institutions that have current cooperation agreements with the Institute. Candidate selection will be based on a combination of criteria, including scientific productivity (publications, participation in conferences and research projects), academic performance, and activity in public life.
The number of scholarship recipients and the amount of payments will be determined depending on the financial capabilities of the Institute. Funding is provided from the special fund, including charitable contributions, income from services, and grant support.
As noted by the Institute's director, Doctor of Technical Sciences Volodymyr Bessarabov, the introduction of the named scholarship is significant not only as an organizational step but as a strategic investment in the future of science:
"Academician L. M. Lytvynenko left behind not only significant scientific results but also a strong scientific school. It is precisely the continuity and support of young scientists that is the key to development. In wartime conditions, such support acquires special importance, as it forms the foundation for the restoration and further growth of Ukrainian science."
