On March 16, 2026, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Ukraine, Mr. Park Ki-chang, visited the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine. The high-ranking guest was welcomed by the director of the institution, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine Natalia Zaimenko, and the deputy director for scientific work, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine Jamal Rakhmetov.
The scientists acquainted the diplomat with the activities of the Garden. During the meeting, the results of long-term cooperation between the scientists of this academic institution and colleagues from the National Arboretum and other scientific and educational centers of the Republic of Korea were also discussed.
The ambassador paid special attention to the "Korean Traditional Garden" section, established in the M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine in December 2012 on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Korea. The Korean corporation LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) implemented this project with the support of the President of the Republic of Korea and made great efforts, bringing materials and artists from Korea. The "Korean Traditional Garden" exhibition features a replica of the Aer'yunjung Pagoda, located in Changdeok Palace in Seoul (which, by the way, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage). Elements of the "Korean Traditional Garden" include the entrance gate and parts of the wall with ornaments. Today, this wonderful ethnobotanical corner delights the eyes of thousands of visitors to the Kyiv academic botanical garden.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed hope for the activation of cooperation between specialists from the two countries.
