On February 20, 2026, a Sectoral Agreement between the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Trade Union of Workers of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine for 2026–2027 was signed in the building of the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine. The key priorities of the agreement are: preservation of personnel potential, decent wages and stability, social and legal protection.
The signing meeting was attended by the President of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Zahorodniy, the head of the Trade Union of Workers of the NAS of Ukraine, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Mykola Hudkov, Vice President of the NAS of Ukraine, head of the Section of Social and Humanitarian Sciences of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Oleh Rafalskyi, Acting Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences Oleh Kubalskyi, Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Ukraine, Candidate of Technical Sciences Serhii Sedykh, Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Workers of the NAS of Ukraine – head of its Kyiv regional organization Viktor Stolyarov, and Deputy Head of the Trade Union Nataliya Pedchenko.
According to the President of the NAS of Ukraine, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Zahorodniy, the signing of the Sectoral Agreement between the Academy and the Trade Union of its workers is an event that defines the life activity of the Academy for the coming years. "The signing of the new sectoral Agreement is not just a formal legal act. It is a manifesto of our unity, responsibility, and shared faith in the future of Ukrainian science," emphasized the head of the NAS of Ukraine. "We sign this document at a time when Ukraine continues to fight for its Independence. The scientific community of the NAS of Ukraine has demonstrated its dedication to the state from the first days of the full-scale war: our scientists are working on developments for defense, energy security, and infrastructure reconstruction. However, we understand that for effective work, a scientist must feel protected. We realize that a difficult path lies ahead in implementing these provisions locally. Every scientific institution must now incorporate the provisions of this Agreement into their collective agreements. But I am confident: our social dialogue is strong enough to overcome any difficulties."
At the end of his speech, academician of the NAS of Ukraine Anatoliy Zahorodniy thanked the members of the working group from the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine and the Trade Union of Workers of the NAS of Ukraine for a balanced and realistic document. "Science is the foundation of our Victory and the future prosperity of Ukraine. And we will do everything so that the people who create this future feel respect and care from the Academy and the Trade Union," emphasized the President of the NAS of Ukraine.
After signing the agreement, the participants of the meeting exchanged views on priority measures to guarantee social protection for the Academy’s employees.
