Ukrainian scientists have created the first digital model of the geomagnetic field over our country with high detail. The development opens new opportunities in the search for mineral resources, interdisciplinary research, environmental assessment, landmine clearance, and in the future – orientation on the terrain without GPS.
The head of the geomagnetism department at the S.I. Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the NAS of Ukraine, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine, Mykhailo Orlyuk, in an interview with "RBC-Ukraine" talked about how the magnetic map was created, where anomalies are hidden, and why the strength of the magnetic field increases over Ukraine but weakens over the rest of the planet.
