Summary: | There are considered modern technologies of beneficiation of iron ores and is shown that their effectiveness can be sufficiently increased when the colloidal mechanisms of beginnings of intermediate nanostructure formations are taken into account, especially in iron-depleted sedimentary ores of bio-colloidal origin by their purification from silicates, phosphorus, sulphur and arsenic. There is shown the role of nanoclusters and nanoparticles in the processes of mechanic-chemical and hydro-chemical beneficiation of passed through thermal processing in reducing conditions magnetite and also high-dispersion sedimentary iron-oxide-silicate ores and in the process of lixiviation them from impurities.

Summary: | Influence of nanomaterials (based on bentonitic clays and calcium carbonate) in pelagic sediments of the Black Sea on their biologic activity has been investigated. It was shown that chemical composition, preliminary thermal treatment and concentration of nanomaterials in composition with pelagic sediments have a great influence to their medical properties. Based on obtained data for complex influence of nanocomposites to organism (behaviour, nervimuscular irritability, reflexes, vegetative effects, functional condition of lever and kidneys) a conclusion of substantially increasing the biological activity of pelagic sediments with the properties of medicinal mud (peloid), under the influence of bentonite and calcium carbonate that contain nanoparticles. A method for testing the pelagic sea and ocean sediments with nanodispersed components to predict the prospects of their use as medicinal muds (peloids) has been suggested.

Summary: | Modern and effective methods of applying the elements of colloidal nanotechnology for direct reduction processes of ferrous materials (especially of biocolloid nature) with inexpensive carbon reducing agents are considered. It is shown that the efficiency of sintered material benefication process also can be substantially increased when colloid-chemical patterns of alkaline nanostructured formations influence on removal of impurities of silicates, phosphates, arsenates and sulfur compounds are taken into account. The advantages of proposed iron direct reduction method and its benefication are: ore processing without its previous enrichment, lower firing temperature, efficient removal of various impurities.

Summary: | Solid-phase carbon reduction of ferrioxide-silicate materials have been investigated on example of sedimentary iron ores of Kerch deposit. It was shown that nanochemical iron oxide reduction to sponge iron with flux-mineralizers is accomplished due to ferric carbide and nanocarbon mostly, which are being formed out of initial carbon powdered material by carbide mechanism.
Obtained results caused development of iron ore direct reduction method which is much better of SL/RN method used in industry.

Summary: | Based upon generalized analysis of modern know-how in the sphere of processing, concentration and purification of iron-ore raw materials (IORM), in particular, the most widespread ferrioxide-silicate materials (FOSM), containing impurities of phosphorus and other elements compounds, noted special role of nanotechnological initiatives in improvement of such processes. Considered ideas of role of nanoparticles in processes of FOSM carbonization with subsequent direct reduction of ferric oxides contained in them to metal phase, as well as in processes of alkali treatment and separation of powered iron from phosphorus compounds. Using the obtained results the wasteless method of solid-phase processing, concentration and purification of IORM and FOSM from compounds of phosphorus, silicon and other impurities was developed and it excels known methods of direct iron reduction from iron ores and metallurgical slimes

Summary: | Nanoscience and nanotechnology initiatives special role in process improvement of processing, enrichment and purification of iron ore raw materials (IORM), in particular, iron oxide silicate sedimentary materials (IOSSM) containing impurities of phosphorus and other elements was shown. Colloid-chemical and nanochemical notions of iron ore nanoparticles role in carbonization processes of IORM and IOSSM followed by direct reduction of iron oxides contained therein into metallic phase were considered. And their role in processes of alkaline purification and separating of iron-containing phase from phosphorus compounds and other impurities were developed too. Nonwaste solid-phase processing methods as well as benefication and purification of IORM and IOSSM from phosphorus, silica, and other impurities were developed with the use of obtained results. And these developed methods exceed known methods of iron direct reduction and its purification.
