of Ukraine,
The book presents ingenious results of investigations in the field of explosion welding of metal layered composite materials aimed at revealing the kinetics and mechanism of formation of a joint at a high-velocity collision of metal elements, analyses the existing concepts in this area, considers basic methods and parameters of the process, their functional relationship and effect on structure and properties of the resulting welded joints, as well as issues associated with microheterogeneities developing in the latter. Phenomenological description and quantitative determination of the boundaries of welding, where a wave-free contact line and abnormal waves in the weld zone are formed, are presented.
It is shown that the average mass of layers joined is a parameter which controls the process under investigation. Position of a lower boundary of explosion welding, responsible for formation of the full-strength joints, was found to depend upon the process deformability indicator, whereas position of the upper boundary is shown to depend, first of all, upon the thermal-physical and chemical properties of melts in the weld zone, base metals and combination of their collision parameters. The energy balance of explosion welding of two- and multilayer metal composite materials was developed, including a detailed description of items of consumption of the energy of the explosive transformation and estimation of the process efficiency. Relationship between the main parameters of explosion welding and energy losses for plastic deformation of metals welded and cumulation is given. It is shown that formation of a joint occurs under conditions of a substantial non-stationarity of the process, which affects anisotropy of properties of interfaces between the composite material layers. The procedure is suggested for estimation of welding conditions for joining multilayer composite materials, which allows determination of the optimal method and parameters of the process. Described are the ingenious procedure for determination of the time of explosion welding and the kinematic model of a high-velocity collision of plates in a multilayer composite material.
The book is intended for scientists and engineers involved in explosion welding of metals.
