The department consists of the following groups:
 - group of the information-technical provision;
 - group of popularization of scientific resources;
 - scientific-technical library;
 - group of scientific and technical preparation of publications.

Basic directions

to provide Marine Hydrophysical Institute with scientific and technical information according to the modern standard of information technologies;
to propagandize scientific achievements of Marine Hydrophysical Institute in mass media;
to prepare scientific proceedings of the scientists of Marine Hydrophysical Institute, popular scientific literature, bulletins and manuals for publication;
to provide information and technical support to the Scientific Council meetings, scientific-technical conferences and other actions;
to collect and process the documents, and to arrange the displays for the Museum of Marine Hydrophysical Institute;
to organize the exhibitions of Marine Hydrophysical Institute achievements.

Functions of the groups

The group of the information-technical provision
 - develops and maintains the library server for the local network of Marine Hydrophysical Institute;
 - maintains the library information- searching systems;
 - provides technical supports of information transfer within the local network of Marine Hydrophysical Institute;
 - provides software and methodical materials for implementation of the objects of the institute management.
The group of popularization of scientific resources
 - carries out technical support of the Scientific Council meetings, scientific conferences, exhibitions and presentation actions of the institute;
 - prepares the information on the activity and achievements of the institute for mass media according to the decisions of the Scientific Council and directorate of the institute;
 - prepares analytical reviews and stands on actual scientific directions and basic results of investigations of the institute;
 - systematically collects, processes and arranges the materials for the Museum of Marine Hydrophysical Institute, designs new thematic displays on history and development of the institute.
The scientific - technical library
 - carries out library, bibliographical and reference-information service of the employees of Marine Hydrophysical Institute and other institutions;
 - conducts acquisition and storage of the scientific-technical library stock;
propagates the structured scientific-technical information according to the requests of the institute employees;
 - compose the electronic version of scientific-technical library catalogues;
 - carries out searching of information in Internet according to the scientific plans of Marine Hydrophysical Institute and personal requests of the institute employees;
 - actively cooperates with foreign libraries and integrates in the international system of scientific libraries.
The group of scientific-technical preparation of publications
 - carries out computer type-setting, formatting, composing of layout and dummy copy of scientific editions of the institute (monographs, collected papers and journals );
 - together with the authors prepares the originals of scientific works for edition;
 - introduces new modern technologies in the process of preparation of dummy-copies of scientific editions.
