Hydroacoustic Branch, Odessa
Mikhail I. Skipa- Head of Hydroacoustic Branch
78 employees including 3 Ph.Science and 9 Ph.D.
The department of hydroacoustics (HBO) was organized in Odessa on
the basis of the laboratory of hydro-seismic-acoustics of the L'vov
department of mathematical physics of the Institute of mathematics
in January, 1974. In November, 1977 it became a part of the Marine Hydrophysical Institute
Basic scientific directions
acoustics of the ocean and the theory of linear operators, integral
equation.
fundamental researches of mathematical models of hydroacoustic
fields interaction with regard to the more sophisticated boundary
conditions and spatial geometry of water environment
heterogeneities;
applied and searching studies in the fields of dynamics of
continuums, instrument-making and ecological safety aimed at
development of technical means and systems of the environment remote
observations, protection of coastal areas, prognosis and forecast of
emergency situations.
Results
- methods of revealing steady information signs in the dynamic
problems were developed and grounded; it was acknowledged a new
scientific direction.
- principles of structural-phase methods of identification of
acoustic patterns are grounded.
- researches in the field of algebra of singular integral operators
and non-linear systems are acknowledged by the world scientific
community.
- the international premium in mathematics awarded to the
professor Linvinchuk G.S. (Barcelona, 1997) and the International conference
on the problems of factorization of singular operators performed in
2002 in Portugal and devoted to the 70th anniversary of the
professor Litvinchuk G.S. confirm the importance of the researches
carried out in the Department in this field.
The developed methods, principles, devices are applicable to a
wide range of applied problems including forecast of technogenic
catastrophes, guarding of boundary water areas, protection of fish
spawning areas, elaboration of the already existing and development
of new methods of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation in
medicine.
The employees of the Department have defended 4 theses for a Doctor's degree
(Litvinchuk
G.S., Karlovich Yu.I., Sakhnovich A.L., Spitkovsky I.M.) and 20
Ph.D. theses.
The results of scientific researches were published in
16 monographs and 450 papers. 30 author's certificates for
inventions were obtained.
