Metrology Department
Alexander A. Alekseev - Head of Metrology Department
Metrology Department was founded in 1972 for metrology
provision of scientific-research works in the field of oceanography.
Engineers - 6; Technician - 2
Basic directions
- Calibration and test of non-standardized means of measuring
technique (MMT) intended for measuring physical parameters of water
that are used in scientific-research works;
-
Stock-taking and keeping of standardized means of measuring technique
that are used for research purposes and economical needs of Marine
Hydrophysical Institute;
-
Metrology control and tests of means of measuring technique;
-
Repair, disassembling or writing off obsolete means of measuring
technique.
Marine Hydrophysical Institute possesses: 2 working temperature
standards, 3 ampoules for creating temperature of water triple point,
and standard and tested means of measuring technique for calibrating
and testing means of measuring technique:
- temperature variation in the range from –20 to +500 C
with the measurement error not exceeding 0.010 C;
- excess pressure in the range from 0 to 60 MPa with the measurement
error not more than 0.02%;
- electric conductivity of water in the range from 0 to 1.7 per unit
values with the measurement error not exceeding 0.00008 per unit
value;
- angle values in the range from 0 to 3600 (angle degrees) with the
measurement error not more than 10 ;
- velocity of sound propagation in sea water in the range from 1400
to 1600 m/s with the measurement error not more than 0.3;
- concentration of water-dissolved oxygen in the range from 0. to
12.7%0 with the measurement error not exceeding 0.25%0;
- concentration of hydrogen ions in water in the range of pH
variation from 4 to 9 un. pH with the measurement error not more than
0.05 un. pH.
Metrology Department has elaborated methodical recommendations on
tests for 46 measuring channels (MC) and instructions on tests for 31
oceanographic measuring sets (OMS).
