National and International programs
The main scientific department of the Marine Hydrophysical
Institute is fully guided by the solution of problems on ocean
physics, development of new methods and means for the World Ocean
study. The Institute incorporates the departments of turbulence,
applied hydrophysics, nuclear hydrophysics, optics and biophysics of
sea, oceanography, ocean-atmosphere interaction, shelf hydrophysics,
contact methods of investigations, remote methods of investigations,
dynamics of oceanic processes, wave theory, dynamic and stochastic
ocean modelling, experimental hydrophysics, complex methods of
investigation of hydrophysical fields.
Many investigations on the World Ocean were conducted within the
framework of international and national programs, such as:
Programs of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO
- in particular - GOOS, Black Sea GOOS (Regional system of
oceanographic observations and services for the Black Sea), Black
Sea Fluxes (Geochemical and sedimentation fluxes in the Black Sea
ecosystem) and GODAR.
Oceanographic projects of the NATO Science for Peace Program (Black
Sea Ecosystem, Processes, Prediction and Operational Data
Management),
Programs of International Co-operation (Ukraine-Russia,
Ukraine-Israel, Ukraine-Greece, Ukraine-Bulgaria, Ukraine-Sweden);
International contract (Development of regional resources and
communications for the modernization of control systems and forecast
state of the Black Sea),.
Program of Fundamental & Applied Research in Marine Sciences of the
National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;
Scientific foundations of developing mineral-raw materials base of
Ukraine;
National Space Program of the National Space Agency of Ukraine;
Climatic Program of Ukraine;
Program of the Ministry of Ecological resources of Ukraine on
re-equipment of the hydrometeorological observational network.
